STARS Program

Raytheon principal software engineer George Weigler sits at a workstation showing a simulation of air traffic patterns at Boston's Logan International Airport.

EPI manufactures the controls that line each side of the radar display.

Our contract assembly group was awarded the Raytheon Outstanding Vendor Award for exemplary performance, high quality, and the ability to meet the STAR's program demanding schedules

EPI has a long history of building assemblies for the medical, industrial, nuclear, military, and other industries where high reliability is a prerequisite. Capabilities run from "build to print' to descriptive design specifications. Assembly equipment is calibrated to NIST traceable standards and ESD protection is maintained throughout the production area. A self-contained field service department allows for product improvement based on real life reliability.

Units can be tested under a variety of temperature and humidity conditions using our environmental chambers and all systems are subjected to a standard powered "burn-in" prior to final electrical testing. Because of this, assemblies can be shipped directly to the customer's production line or their end user without need of receiving inspection or testing. EPI also has experience qualifying for agency approvals (UL, military requirements, etc.) as required.

In addition to in house prototyping capabilities, we have broad and stable relationships with component supplier partners to serve your sheet metal, machining, plastic molded/injected parts, and membrane switch requirements.

PCB ASSEMBLY DEPARTMENT EPI is a full service supplier of SMT, mixed, and through-hole technology electronic printed circuit board assemblies using a wide variety of programmable devices and other specialized components. Production and final assembly quality inspections are made prior to shipment, with first pass yield percentages consistently running in the high 90's. Circuit assemblies conform to IPC and ESD requirements. We have the flexibility to do "short run" applications to meet special needs.

The EPI Engineering department offers a full range of services from concept to production. Circuit board layout and production review of both through-hole and SMT designs allows you to take immediate advantage of turnkey solutions without making a major investment in time or resources.

CABLE ASSEMBLY DEPARTMENT
EPI's cable assembly department produces specialized prototypes and short production run cable assemblies for industrial, appliance, medical, and military applications. Our state of the art wire processing equipment provides accurate cutting and stripping for a wide range of wire and cable types. The cable assembly department has the ability to terminate both insulated and un-insulated terminals. Experienced operators consistently build high quality cable assemblies per SAE, UL, and MIL specifications.
